National Training Weekend 2007

National Training WeekendOn behalf of the Red Ream I would like to say how much we all thoroughly enjoyed this year's National Training Weekend (NTW) at Tower Wood, on Windermere Lake in the Lake District. As a team it was important to be competitive but always focus on the reason for the training, and to learn lessons in communication and team work that we could take away and utilise in both our place of work and in our personal lives.

The setting for this year's NTW was breathtaking, the supervision and training for the 4 main events, scuba diving, canoeing, orienteering and gyhll scrambling was great. From the beginning the Red Team worked well together and always encouraged itfs members who werenft so comfortable with some of the tasks. As a result we pushed ourselves hard but along the way had a great time with many memorable moments.

Scuba Divind Like me, many of the team hadn't scuba dived before and I was very apprehensive before the event. It's worth remembering though that one of the main aims of the NTW is to push yourself and step outside of one's comfort zone now and again. It is only in these circumstances that you learn about yourself, others and team dynamics. For me my fears were unwarranted, I took to it like a duck to water, let's say, despite not being a strong swimmer, and I would gladly do it again and even perhaps pursue diving independently.

The organisers Mark Barlow and Debbie did a great job organising the event which ran like clockwork, a big thanks to you and the Tower Wood instructors from the triumphant Red Team. The weekend was unforgettable and I left tired but fulfilled and glowing after the weekend's busy and energetic schedule - put me down for next year!!

Working in the print industry is more challenging than ever, whatever role you carry out. You have to continuously improve and adapt to meet the various demands of your business. Attending the YMP National Training Weekend gave me the opportunity to tackle new challenges, work with a team of people I would never normally work with and learn to adapt to the needs

of the team in the restricted time frames. It was an excellent weekend, although physically challenging at times, it enabled me to push myself in a safe environment and gave a great sense of achievement when the team succeeded.
