The 72nd YMP annual conference titled "Increasing Personal Effectiveness" was voted a huge successs by all attendees. The venue was the Palace Hotel in Buxton set in the glorious surroundings of the Peak district.
The "Heroes and Villains" fancy dress icebreaker on the Friday evening gave brilliant opportunities for innovative costume characters and ensured great networking as a result. Training commenced on Saturday morning and focused on the importance of effective interpersonal relationships when managing for results. Delegates explored influencing behaviours, assertiveness, verbal techniques and examined appropriateness of habitual responses.
Two of the newest recruits to YMP who are also undertaking a BPIF training programme were Oliver Leet and Sion Jones of Cambrian Printers, Aberystwyth. Sion felt that the networking aspect of the weekend "opened my eyes to the bigger picture of the industry and its vast opportunities" whilst Oliver felt that "taking part in the training sessions alongside people in management roles and feeling that we were all on the same level was a great experience."
The conference closed following the training session on Sunday morning with the AGM and a prize for "Best Delegate Award" of a graphic design QuarkXPress package valued at £1,000 being presented to Elizabeth Abrahams from Hawthornes in Nottingham, kindly donated by Quark Systems Ltd
